Sustained Release System

Sustained release systems are modified drug delivery system that is designed to achieve slow release of drug over an extended period of time. For example, if the release of drug from a tablet is designed in such a way that the concentration of drug in tissue is reduced but the time interval of drug concentration is increased. Then, this may help in reducing the frequenting of dosing, for example from three times a day to once a day.
